Painting Alanik with Howard Lyon and Steve Argyle

In 2022, I had the absolute pleasure to join in a paint along session with Howard Lyon and Steve Argyle. Kari Christensen also joined in. It was delightful to be in a room with so many wonderful artists and observers.

In 2023, I was delighted to see that this event was on the schedule at Dragonsteel again! This year, the model was Hyachinth Wonders. She was cosplaying Alanik from the Skyward series. As a humanoid UrDail, Alanik has purple skin and light hair - distinctive and striking!

I started out with a rough sketch and then refined that in a new layer. From there I proceeded to define highlights and the mid tones. Then I finished with hair shapes and darkened the shadows. I am proud of this work since I am mostly an analog artist! I am still learning digital brushes, but I am pleased with this work inside of 3 hours.
